Is Barack Obama going to lead us to a radical change in our political system? I don?t think so. Do we want him to lead a radical re-structuring of our society? I don?t think so either. What I believe most of us want Obama to do is to lead our nation intelligently!
We still have an opportunity of straightening out the country through regular means. Most Americans now realize that we are in the midst of deep problems. Most of those problems have been self-created. This means that they can be dealt with through changing the way that we do things. But,first of all we need to deal with our attitude.
Many of us have deeply ingrained in ourselves that we are unbeatable, that our nation is so resilient that we will never succumb. I believe that way of
thinking is quickly changing, and that?'s good. It makes us smarter.
The most our nation needs now is intelligence at the helm. We once had the largest middle class in the world. We once were the land of opportunity, not
for the lucky, but for those that worked hard and lived within their means. We need to bring that back. It is just plain elementary because that?'s the
essence of a great nation.
Obama?'s proposals are full of common sense, and with the purpose of uniting as many as can be united. The man was a community organizer for three years in Chicago?'s Southside. He obviously learned his job well. He understands that to overcome the malaise that we are into we are going to need help from all sides. No matter what political party they belong to.
John McCain might be a nice man on his own right. But, we can?t afford the luxury of fumbling the ball again as a nation. McCain has been a staunch supporter of the War in Iraq, and he has been a staunch supporter of Bush?'s economic policy.
It has to be recognized that McCain is working very hard to disengage himself from George W. Bush, and appear as a maverick. That?'s smart, but is
not going to fool us. Just realize that the same people that have supported Bush unconditionally now are wholeheartedly supporting McCain. Most of these
people, while 85% of Americans received a stimulus check, they have been enjoying an economic bonanza based on Bush policies.
The War? Has anybody asked what we are going to win by defeating the insurgency? After all, no matter how you slice it, we are an occupying force that will be battling the natives until we are forced out. Don?t believe me? Just read history. Are we aware of the conditions that we are trying to have the Iraqis accept? These conditions are a guarantee that McCain will be right, and we will be there for 100 years more.
Economically, McCain is worse than Bush. Have you listened to his economic plan? Is just more of the same. Don?t believe me? Just read his health care
plan. It is worse than Bush!
The nation needs to rapidly drive away from the politics of Greed-induced policies. The Chinese has simply out-smarted us by realizing how to play to
our Achilles heel. By offering major financial gains through low wages, and freedom from regulatory concerns they took our jobs away. Mind you, our
industrialists were doing very well here, but were offered an injection into their Greed vein, and they succumbed, devastating our nation while developing China!
Obama is the chance that we have to save our nation. We need to change from a Greed obsessed society into one that utilizes smartly its talent and resources. Obama has been very clear that?'s the way he sees things. Obama'?s position on the war has very clear implications to our economic future. We can'?t continue to spend $10 billion weekly in a war without end.
At one of the debates with Hillary, Obama expressed what I believe is an essential fair point that illustrates what this nation will get if we elect
him president, also a very gutsy position considering his base of support. Obama said that his daughters should not be considered for affirmative action in spite of them being black because economically they didn'?t need any help; he went on to say that he believes there are many white kids that should be entitled to affirmative action because economically they need it. That?s just simply fair!
With Barack Obama we can expect smart people, pursuing smart policies, in the benefit of the people of the United States.
