How to select your favorite US Presidential Candidate - 2008/10/10 15:21

I do not support WEB pages –don't get me wrong– such as "The Obama File" or "John McCain Revealed" (<< click on the underlined titles to open either one of them). Both are biased, contain half truths and out of context information. They are clearly subjective. I bet that most of my colleagues in our Participatory Democracy Cultural Initiative would agree.
However, I do recommend American voters and non citizens who are interested in American affairs to visit these pages. They give all readers a perspective of the reasons NOT TO VOTE for either one of those candidates. They also contain relevant information that might be difficult to obtain otherwise.
Once you have navigated these pages, you will have enough arguments to visit the WEB sites supported by both candidates and pick on what they have to offer with a deeper perspective on what they would really do if and when either one of them finds himself at the helm as President of the United States.
These negative pages on the two main candidates are a good illustration on what democracy is all about. The right to dissent. The right to inform and be informed. The right to have and express our own views without fear of repression. They would also convince some voters that it makes sense to select one of the other less known candidates as better options. It is good for democracy to have many options, not just two of them.
For those of you not well informed, among the third parties with US Presidential candidates the most prominent in voters preferences are:
Libertarian Party:
President - Bob Barr; Vicepresident - Wayne Allyn Root.
Green Party:
President - Cynthia McKinney; Vicepresident - Rosa Clemente
Peace & Liberty Party:
President - Ralph Nader; Vicepresident - Matt González
Bob Barr was a Congressman & District Attorney of the State of Georgia, and Wayne A. Root is a TV host in Nevada.
Mc Kinney was a Congressman of the State of Georgia, and Clemente is a newspaper reporter and political activist in New York.
Nader has championed the fight for the environment and for consumers protection, and González is a lawyer and political activist of San Francisco.
Neither one of these nor any of the candidates of some other half dozen parties listed in the November 4 ballot has the minimum 5% voter's preferences to place them in the spotlight against the political machinery of Republicans and Democrats. However, it is up to you to decide. You have in your hands the power to elect any of them. If you really want to make a good choice, take your time to investigate and find out as much as possible about McCain and Obama in the WEB pages mentioned above and in their own WEB pages. Take your time also to find about about third candidates. That is the only way to make a reasonable and knowledgeable decision.
